I love mons. Also has one of the best guitar stores on the planet, lol. Omega music has an incredible selection of interesting guitars if that’s your thing.
Both are very underrated, especially in Flanders. They have an incredible history and are bulking with nice (and not very expensive) restaurants and shops.
I have studied 5 years in Mons and I still have no clue of the origin of this foil statue lol
Tournai/Doornik is highly underrated. Great cafés and museums also.
Finally, someone comes to Tournai and Mons. Not being overshadowed by Bruges, Ghent and Brussels. For once…
Or Dînant for some reason… I don’t even know why they (people, except locals) love that city so bad…
You must have been really bored then..
Tournai : on a clear day if you have time, make sure to go on and around the top of the Mont Saint Aubert to have a view of the area.
I will add both to my bucketlist!!!
I went to Tournai with my bf a month ago and had a great time even if it was just for one evening!
I think we’ve eaten in the same place in the last photo… is it near the main square? The food was delicious and the beer too! Also it looked like a place where people from the city would go, which means that’s one of the best spots where to go imo 🙂
Love both cities, especially Tournai 🙂
Will be at mons next week, any “must see, try” things u have for me?
Oh jeez I keep forgetting you can see the cathedral again. Been hidden for something like 15 years I kept joking the restorations would never finish.
Doornik is cool, but when I visited it was loaded with trashy French people buying cigarettes and beer. (Lockdown differences with FR at the time). I remember the girl working in the hotel was one of the most sexy woman I’d seen in a long time.
Both are nice and underrated, if quite different from each other
