fact check: will the covid law lead to mass surveillance?

  1. So the surveillance done by the Bünzli of their neighbours doesn’t count as mass surveillance?

  2. Those worried about Covid leading to mass surveillance are going to be absolutely furious when they learn about the internet, smart phones, and social media.

  3. Read the little red booklet. Aside from the Zertifikat there is 0 other incentive to do mass surveillance. They even reduced by 10% the amount of losses needed for independent people to claim some free covid money.

  4. They are comparing the supposed mass surveillance to China’s, which they don’t know the first thing about. Otherwise they would elaborate a bit.

  5. It’s an unpleasantly large section of the booklet but I took the time to read through most of it (I skipped the parts that were very obviously about economic aid measures) and no, there’s no surveillance in there.

AT MOST you could construe the increased reliance on certificates and the proposed strengthening of data interchange/analysis as POSSIBLY leading towards something like that. Except the covid app doesn’t work this way. It would need deliberate alterations in the architecture to accomplish any degree of surveillance through it. But the covid law neither authorizes this nor does the current legal situation forbid it. We also have watchdogs for this stuff and the fiasco that were the postfinance evote and the early drafts of the contact tracing app showed that they work.

The discussion to what degree people should be restricted or penalized for their ongoing refusal to contribute to the safekeeping of the general population IS one to be had. But again, the covid law doesn’t actually specify anything in that regard. Ski resorts announcing 2G for the coming season, employers institution sanctions on unvaccinated covid victims and such things are happening regardless of the law.

It’s people frustrated with the situation, lashing out at anything covid-related coming from the government. There could be a covid law that simply says “Everyone gets a million bucks in 2022” and there would be a referendum against it. All this referendum accomplishes is exhausting everyone’s energy and making the anti-vaxxers feel less impotent.

  6. At this moment no but the Bundesrat can build such system if “needed” — for instance the vaccine mandate in Austria will require a centralized system to monitor and validate the actions of the “users” so they can be blocked accordingly. No more decentralized protocol, data is deleted after 14 days blah-blah.

It was always about this anyway, check this lecture from april 2020 – https://www.ft.com/content/19d90308-6858-11ea-a3c9-1fe6fedcca75

  7. Why ?? Holy fuck all using facebook and the other surveillance stuff, and your cellphone is allways with you, so why the fuck should this cert doing a job, that you all already doing and ofc much beter as this cert can do at all ?

  8. Of course it doesn’t, did you expect the arguments of people who don’t know how to read to live up to the truth?
