While perusing government websites, I found a very interesting piece of public planning. I had never heard of this before but there’s a program called Dart+ and it actually looks like it’s going to change Dublin a lot. There are plans to extend the dart like fucking everywhere it’s wild. THey applied to board plenána recently and if it passes the way people live in the capital could change on a monumental scale.
This is the website [**https://www.dartplus.ie/en-ie/home**](https://www.dartplus.ie/en-ie/home) **if you don’t want to follow random links sent by strangers on the internet just google “dart+ Ireland”**
I don’t know why there isn’t more hype around this.

I hate looking at any of these proposed infrastructure projects because they make so much sense and I end up getting too invested in them only for them to exist in some kind of limbo for a few years before being dramatically watered down or just flat out cancelled.
There’s never hype for massive infrastructure projects. But this is just the latest iteration of Dart expansion plans that they’ve been trying to get off the ground over the years.
Moved house based on the incredible metro North plans. Now, ground hasn’t been broken, and I’m almost dead.
Plans for such options have been going around for multiple decades at this point. Nothing ever gets done and won’t ever get done. And even if some parts of it are actually put to practice, it will be a massively watered down version. So don’t get your hopes up. Just to give an example I recall seeing Metro plans on billboards in Santry as far back as 2007. Lol. My friends dad who works in Dart says he’s been seeing such plans since the 80s. Don’t hold your breath.
Its says a lot about Ireland that one of Europe’s busiest airport lies only a few Km’s from a main railway and isn’t even connected to the airport. The lack of joined up thinking here is appalling and I don’t think it’ll ever change.
Look at how Schiphol got connected to the Dutch rail network and then look at Dublin, a joke. All our trains from Belfast, Sligo, Galway, Limerick, Tralee, Cork, Waterford and Wexford should be going to the airport, the cancellation of the DART interconnector was a stupid decision. The railways would have thrived by being connected to the airport.

Well, there you go.
Urban planning is where good ideas go to die in this country.

Let me tell about the metro plan…
Anybody have the plans for the bertie bowl?
Is this because Bertie’s metro isn’t happening?

Because talk is cheap…
