As if thats their most pressing issue! Good grief do thoso proto fascists have it backwards!
What is it with right wingers and abortion? Do they just hate women that much or do they just prefer to live in the middle ages?
What’s going on Italobros? For decades when you decided to go a little crazy you’d elect some former glamour model. Now this.
To be fair the issue is a bit more complicated. Access to abortion has *always* been a problem in certain regions of Italy, especially in the center-south. This is because, for some reason, religious doctors have a weird monopoly over the gynecology branch of medicine, and the ones who aren’t opt out of giving the procedure because otherwise that’s what they would do all day. And you can’t exactly force them to do it, no matter if you think otherwise.
While there is concern that things might get worse, this is not new. In this ever present panic over the demise of Italy – apparently the Monday after elections we’ll declare war on Abyssinia and reinstate the King, among other things – is very convenient to forget that the center left was within the government coalition for almost ten (10) years – with a brief parenthesis of the first Conte cabinet – and did *absolutely nothing* to solve the issue.
Meloni has stated time and time again she has no plans to modify the current laws. The problem is that he defended them, saying that there are no issues with access to abortion in Italy (which is false) and that the choice of doctors to not perform the procedure is equally as valid (which is absurd). Stuff will probably stay the way they are because even before Mussolinia 2 Electric Boogaloo there was no political will in Italy to solve the issue, and to behave this is something new brought in by the evil Trumpist fascists is absurd. Also any right wing cabinet will probably collapse in 6-12 months, because that’s what we do.
I know this is a very escapist comment but probably the right wing coalition will collapse and schism before anything concrete is done, and their consensus will have declined once their dreamy aura of outsider party coming to do the job right wanes off, and the EU wouldn’t allow any of this and even the most nationalist third of the right wing coalition doesn’t have the spine nor the political skills (internal and external) to pull it off, and in the small chance it happens that the stupid old people would start complaining once the obvious consequences happens and they can’t be bothered to go through it.
This is a country of disorganised narcissistic nearsighted rancid submissive complainers, not being politically organised enough to pull such a simple task and in the miraculous chance it happens complain after the change has concrete, easily perceivable effects that’d be rather obvious in other countries is very much in line with Italy.
Oh come on. Can we stop going backwards please
Man tells female candidate how she is eroding women’s rights.
What a bullshit article, you can clearly see here that many regions in Italy (even those not governed by FdI, who governs only Marche as leader of coalition) have it way worse
The reality is that if you become a gynaecologist in an hospital and you start making abortions the Head of the Ob/Gyn department (we call it Primario here) will make you do every abortion possible, thus rendering your career extremely stale and you won’t ever make any career progression in the future.
I’m proabortion, but I’m also pro-reporting the truth
