Perhaps the penny might finally drop that not everyone wants to fly long haul out of London airports when they can do it with a foreign carrier out of a local airport.
I believe this is going to be the problem facing the economy that no one is mentioning. Shops, airports, industry has been eager to start back up after covid, on the assumption that things will just get back to normal. Except there is no normal. People have found other ways to do things, and probably don’t want the old normal.
Outbreaks of COVID are still common and there are still plenty of people who cannot go on holiday for a week or two and then quarantine for ten days upon return. The COVID tests themselves also add a significant cost to the holiday, one that many families cannot afford. The weather is not as nice in the UK but holidaying at home does come with far less hassle.
I honestly don’t think I could be bothered taking the risk. If you test positive your holiday is cancelled. Public transport is already horrific as it is
