New regional bus network: ‘99.92% of residents have a public transport stop in their area’

  1. Well, that’s great. I have a bus stop across the road. But if I want to take the bus to work, I have to use 3 buses (2 changes). Not to mention the time it takes. 2 hours bus vs 30 mins car. Maybe I’m wrong, but it feels like there is a lack of bus lanes. The buses just get caught up in the traffic jams. Why aren’t there bus lanes on the motorway or don’t the buses use the motorway? Feels like they’re saying “oh just shut up and live somewhere convenient to the bus network!”

  2. The bus lines available around my spot have basically quadrupled in the last 10 years and it’s great, but my commuting time has tripled…

  3. Most buses don’t go directly to the capital. At least in the north everything goes to the nearest train station (usually ettelbruck) and then you better hope you don’t have to wait ages for the next train. At least with the tram you can fairly quickly get around the capital once you’re there. Still the commute by car is always easily twice as fast if not more.

  4. Really depends where you work and live. Seems like you have to study the bus lines before moving somewhere/buying some place to make the most of it…

  5. Yah, so to get to work tomorrow for my 5:30 shift I have to take the bus here tonight at 23:49, change busses 2 times and have a 1.5km walk at the end to arrive at work at 2:15 and chill 3 hours there before my shift 🤣 or I use my car and drive 30 minutes
