Will Liz Truss’s economic plans make us richer?

  1. Sure but only the already extremely wealthy at the expense of the country; its institutions and it’s people.

So hey face eating leopard party eating faces who knew.

  2. Hmmm I’m a poor disabled person….let me have a think about this 🤔…..🤔

Edit : Actually I’ll change that….I’m a poor human being not in the 1%….🤔

  3. If you’re quite rich, then yes, you are getting a massive rebate straight out of the hands of the nhs and public services.

Everyone else…I think it’s about 40p per month trickle down

  4. >The wealthiest 10% of households held 43% of all the wealth in Great Britain

those people doubling their wealth would make ‘Britain’ considerably richer, use your skill and judgement to decide how much that would put in your pocket.

  5. It’ll make some of us richer.

Unfortunately some is less than 1% of the population and it will be those already at the top.

    Its called Toryism.

  6. I think a better and more pertinent question would be: “Will Liz Truss’s economic plans make bankrupt us all at the expense of share holder profits?”

  7. IMO they’re doing exactly the wrong thing and it won’t work. Just like it didn’t work when Cameron tried it. The idea seems to be that by giving richer people money they will go out and either invest or spend it and that will boost the economy.

But times are hard and everyone has had to adapt. The wealthier you are the more options you have to deal with things like an interest rate rise, a higher gas bill or whatever. Things like extending your mortgage, putting it on a credit card, running up an overdraft or even just spending your savings are all options. A lot of wealthier people are probably doing some of these things already and giving people in this category a tax cut means they’ll just run up their overdraft more slowly (or whatever). It’s unlikely they’ll go out and spend more because, like everyone else, they’ll be overstretched as it is and worrying about how much worse it will get. That might be good for the long term health of the economy but it won’t help us right now.

Give it to people at the other end, however, and they really, really need the money and will go right out and spend it and that really will boost the economy. So IMO we should give the least wealthy the £150 per month and watch the economy grow.

Does anyone else feel like this is the last gasp of a government which knows it will be voted out at the next election and wants to reward their friends while they can?
