Paris closes sections of the city to cars for the ‘Paris breathes’ events. Are DCC, SDCC etc. capable of this?

  1. The amount of traffic in the Phoenix park today alone should be proof that something needs tobe done to reduce the amount of cars in the city. I can only imagine the wailing and gnashing of teeth if more traffic calming was suggested.

  2. I was in Peru earlier this year and on Sundays they close one of the main roads through the city until midday.

People are encouraged to get out and exercise and there were thousands of people walking, running cycling and skating.

It was absolutely amazing and gave a real sense of community, I would love something similar here.

  3. Congestion charges are probably the best we can hope for. Only policy changes that happen in this country are taxes.
