Wow! I knew, joining the EU is an unpopular proposal in Switzerland. But I’m still surprised, **how** unpopular it apparently is.

Well they are less susceptible to outside influence (being a bank and all) so they dont need to be in an economic bloc with anyone.

That’s funny. There are like ten thousands bilateral agreements between the Swiss and EU. Swiss is de-facto an EU member.
In Norway, support for EU membership is slowly, but steadily rising.
I don’t think it’s even on the table. Honestly neither Switzerland meets EU conditions nor EU is compatible with swiss system. By joining one inadvertly looses some sovernity. I can imagine the swiss direct democracy (general raferendums) often would lead to results that are in contradiction to EU rules.
