the lads on the building sites must be working just to pay for their breakfast and lunch nowadays

  1. My buddy used to be an apprentice during the peak of the Celtic tiger, he worked with lads who spent €50 a day while at work everyday; between fags, breakfast, lunch, coffees. Easily done

  2. I needed a guy to drive a digger I have (I’m not yet skilled enough for using the beam.fully extended) and he wanted €600 a day, cash and arrived in a 212 land cruiser. More power to him if he can get that (I’m not paying it), but if it’s any indication of what people are making on sites, they can pay.

  3. This is the dumbest post. Assuming all builders go to restaurants to buy only breakfast items. Assuming builders are on low pay. Thinking a tenner for a full Irish is a bad price. OP must be 9.

  4. The average full time wage is about 45k .Self employed are making much more than that.
A tenner is neither here nor there.

  5. Irish cities (in fairness, mostly Dublin, but other cities too) are way more cosmopolitan than they were 20 years ago. Stop buying shitty low quality breakfast rolls and then complaining about the price. There are way better quick lunch options.

Bit of a classist post also.

  6. The ‘Lock and Brew Omelette’ is 8.95 and features 4 items but an ordinary omelette where you choose 4 additional items is 9.95 ?

  7. The place i work for are redoing the menu. Lots of builders around and families. All the close restaurants are after upping their full Irish prices to God. Ours is like €9 with everything and we are the cheapest in the area. I was surprised the boss didn’t want to up ours too but sure there’s asses in seats and our competition shot themselves in the foot.

  8. Fucking hell. I remember going to centra when I was in school and everyone got a hot chicken roll/breakfast roll with taytos and coke for like 3.50

  9. Petrol stations making a solid fortune out of all the poor souls commuting for work. Apprentices flat out on the cans of monster cus they’re not able for the days we put in. I spend 30 euro a day easy in the stations and shops. Pointless even working in Dublin when you’re using the extra money on shite during the day.

  10. You’re paying for it to be brought to you and sit in the warm indoors under electricity powered lights. This is the cost of running a pace when your overheads go through the roof. Why are you surprised?
