Drug testing for gardaí to start by end of year

  1. Hard to see this being even almost enforced properly.

Sure half the guards would be off the road big culchie coke heads on them.

  2. Prob end up testing less than 5% of the total force.

Anecdotally you could see 20% or 30% of guards under 40 immediately suspended for drug use particularly cocaine.

  3. About time!!! Guards need to be held to a higher standard then the rest of the public as they enforce the law. Guards likely use recreational drugs like cannabis and cocaine at the same rates as the general public. Yet they also arrest and potentially ruin peoples lives. Hopefully this will make more guards talk up about how ridiculous our drug laws are. I personally know 2 guards and both regularly use cocaine when out. And this is in a fairly rural part of Ireland. Cud be worse in cities, I don’t know.

  4. Sorry this hasn’t been the case already? I just always assumed they would have to have been.

  5. Well they have some time to get clean or find ways to get clean piss at least. Wonder how many male gardai will test pregnant…

  6. 🤣 🤣 Some amount of “de force” are regular users of the stuffs. Delighted for them. However, will it be enforced?

  7. Or how about we grow the fuck up, legalise drugs and stop trying to ruin people’s lives for enjoying themselves?

  8. Mad that it’s taken so long to introduce considering the Defence Forces have had it in place for years.

  9. In America, law enforcement agencies got together and formed unions that then lobbied our government to make this illegal
