Good evening, guys.

We, students of European universities, cannot go to study. Since students had the right to leave before September 14, many understood this as a signal that they could enroll in universities, take exams, and continue their studies. Back in the summer, students could go, but studies start in the fall, and many come to their relatives for the vacations. Now, as of September 14, Ukraine prohibits students from going to study. Universities have already begun expelling students for failing to show up.

23.09.2022 One of the students who study abroad in University was trying to pass state border of Ukraine in checkpoint “Shegeni”. According to him, after he declined to sign the paper, which states that he was refusing to cross the border on his own will, employees of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine started beating him, and than threw him outside, where continued punching him.

We ask the media to help us defend our right to education. We have recorded a video appeal in English:

We are also supported by the European Students Union: [https://twitter.com/ESUtwt/status/1567782947742253057](https://twitter.com/ESUtwt/status/1567782947742253057)

Sincerely, a student at Vistula University.

  1. Beatings and repression of men will continue until nationalistic fervor and the wish to sacrifice your life grows. Welcome to the dark side of the conflict no one wants to talk about ever since Ukraine made the insanely sexist law that men cannot leave the country.

Maybe appeal to the European Human Rights Court?

  2. 1. The way you write it is unclear what happened, reading the article you posted on r/poland is more helpfull

    2. I don’t think EU can help you, if you manage to make big enough noise maybe it can presure Ukrainian government, but it is somewhat dubious as there is no fundamental right allowing students to cross borders. It is not really our problem to help anyone avoid mobilization either. What sucks here is that you had certain expectation based on previous laws and your country’s institutions suddenly changed the rules, but to change them back you should protest to your own government.

    3. I am not really buying that students are systematically getting expelled for not showing up as apparently it’s only been ten days since this travel ban was made, academic leaves exist, after Covid there probably also are remote studies options, talk to your universities about what to do.
