Also, Berlin has a public transport service that is not in absolute shambles… Small difference…
Visiting southern Spain for 15+ years the main reason such cities are a living vibrant location is the abundance of inner city residential accommodation (high rise “shocking”) coupled with plazas fringed with affordable amenities such as tasca style bars or cafes, bakeries eyc, basically everything lacking in Dublin and other major Irish cities.
