Personally I think every head of state should arrive in their own transport, one after the other. Have it as an event.
If there’s a problem with the buses then they can always attend via ‘Teams’ but must be on mute ‘as a mark of respect’
Can’t blame them. Last time they had to share a coach the king of Spain farted all the way, the Swedish royals in the back row threw paper planes and the prince of Brunei played TikToks at full blast on his phone.
Never again!
[Gov.uk](https://Gov.uk) should have made Biden ride in the bus with the rest of them. That would have avoided the problem.
It’s because they were told they had to top up their own Oyster cards

One wonders, if the situation was reversed, would Her Majesty QE2 have been expected to jump on a bus to trundle through Washington with 50 other Heads of State or Government. No. I didn’t think so.
>some heads of state not used to shared coach travel will see the plan as a challenge to their “masculinity”
Some heads of state think they’re so masculine that they can’t get on a bus with other people. What a bunch of whinging cunts.
I wonder if the Queen would have been willing to get on a shared coach if, say, the king of the netherlands had died, for his funeral? Probably not I would imagine.
A fair point to be fair, though the logistics involved would be a nightmare.
Doesn’t the US president literally fly their armoured “beast” limo to wherever they go anyway? If Biden is bringing his own car then he can use it, if they’re not then tough shit.
It was never realistic to expect world leaders to catch what is basically a rail replacement bus service.
All animals are equal but some are more equal.
On a serious note if it is the French president I get it lots would want to shoot him. No many would want to shoot the Canadian PM on the other hand.
Not many world leaders are traveling with nuclear launch authority.
Also the Met is probably happy with the arrangement as it reduces their requirements. Biden is likely the highest risk target at the funeral.
And it’s shit like this why I hate organizing family events. Because Uncle Biden wants to drive his car rather than take the bus with the rest of the family. Meanwhile cousin Putin is not allowed to come untill he makes things right with cousin Zelenski.
The petty drama.
Surely the midpoint would be
“Bring your down transport but you must bring at least 10 other leaders with you.
I can imagine some leader groups taking a communion car together like a bunch of youngsters to a funeral haha. Pretty much what few funerals I’ve been to have been attended as. The point is to be there as a sign of , not how you get there.
This whole thing has been a bit of a shambles with bussing in world leaders
When they reported heads of state were going to get on a fleet of buses I immediately though “yeah, right”.
Too late! Our Cadillacs got the prime parking spots.
Someone should tell them that if they don’t tap off at the other end the trip will only cost them 10p.
This is why the US president rarely attends events (other than summits or official state visits), because the apparatus needed for his security makes it all about him and takes away from the actual event
People are going to have some fairly out there takes on this, from uninviting Biden, to telling everyone to stick it and the like.
There is a reality to the world, and that is that stable geo politics are held together with human relationships and hope. Given that the monarch essentially functions as a Super Diplomat, people need to understand that this funeral is not just a funeral, but rather a diplomatic event. Being invited, being uninvited, not being able to come due to security procedures etc is a major, major deal. It’s especially a major deal for smaller countries, or newer countries.
Olena Zelensky is coming – Volodymir is only the SIXTH president his country has ever had. It’s a country – even before the war – that was battling for recognition of it’s very existence. It was snubbed by the EU and NATO, Russia didn’t recognise it. Being invited and being able to attend an event like this is a big deal for countries. Not every country is Britain or America, their battles are different to ours.
On the subject of America, they are our oldest, most loyal, must trusted and closest ally. Even if the President didn’t require extra security, you’d best believe the red carpet would be rolled out, as it is whenever our politicians or monarch visit America.
There must surely be a load of those exec Mercedes lying around from COP26? Or have they already been sold on?
I’d hate to be the person planning the logistics of this anyway.
That’s an issue. You can’t expect head of state or governments to ride coach while others get their privileges. As far as I head Biden isn’t the only exception.
It sounds childish, but it is an issue of national pride and standing of having your dude or girl arriving by bus or by limousine. Its power projection. It would be sensible for the climate and enviroment to arrive by bus, but imagine he Emperor of Japan having to share a bus with a some Chinese ambassador. Not only the issue between Japan and China would be critical, the rank too. Diplomatic protocol makes the difference between historic events in the good sense and bad sense.
Come on. Give everyone their as
Why aren’t they allowed their own transport anyway? Seems rather odd the government is explicitly telling them to take a bus.
If they all want their own transport then let them race there Wacky Races style. There is no Grand Prix this weekend so why not have a London street circuit going on? It would make it far more interesting to watch than a boring funeral.
This might be a silly question, can’t they just take helicopters to wherever they are staying? (Probably not far from the event).
I feel like I’ve seen this film before… Wasn’t it called London has Fallen??
“Oh I am too good for this peasant transportation”
then dont’ go to the funeral or sort your own transport. simple. fuckin dipshits.
meanwhile most of them they would haplic take away your right to even own a petrol car. if they dont like the bus they can walk.
The secret service nearly killed me driving like they owned the city during Nelson Mandela’s funeral. The secret service do not fuck around, whether they have any right to or not.
To be fair it didn’t seem like the smartest idea to get all the world leaders on the same bus together (and then telling everyone), talk about putting a target on your back
I dont give a shit, I just want the funeral done with so we dont have to talk about this anymore and stop looking like north korea.
Well there’s a shock
better dust off the national wallet folks, this is going to be a pricey one
I figured something like this would happen, a bunch of people used to being treated special and different than everyone else are suddenly being treated somewhat like regular people and they’re all jealous that someone is able to do something they aren’t allowed to or just seeing someone get special treatment that’s not them…
World leaders/politicians are nothing but giant spoiled babies used to getting their way and being treated special
