Electricity bill has tripled for many of my local shops and in two cases this has meant they’ve had to close permanently. I’m dreading winter, not for myself but for the elderly/vulnerable. I feel as though the issue is not being given the attention or concern that it deserves. But then why would it? None of the bastards in charge have to worry about it. God save the King and all that bollocks
Pubs near me are already taking Christmas bookings but part of me thinks they might be lucky to see Christmas at this rate. Tourist season has dried up, the nights are getting longer and colder, and people have less spare money to spend on going out. That’s not something businesses here like and it is perfectly possible that many will die off in the next six months as a result.
TLDR: They are either broke and shutting down or are not yet broke and shut, but will be soon.
Can you please not? This is a period of mourning – have some respect.
We are heading towards a glorious demolition man future
A local small curry house near me has closed down due to the cost of living crisis. I expect this will become a regular thing
I work for a small business.
Business is surprisingly good.
We require heating to maintain our product through winter.
We’ll still likely go under this winter due to heating bills.
