Finland moves to block more Russians on eastern border

  1. This is just helping the Russian army. Europe should allow anyone fleeing from serving in the Russian army temporary asylum. Even if every Russian soldier is incompetent and just cannon fodder, and it takes 10 Russian deaths to kill a single Ukrainian soldier, it’s still better if those Russian soldiers never make it to the battlefield. Every 1000 Russians we help flee, saves 100 Ukrainian lives and huge amounts of ammo.

  2. Genuine question

Why the fck is everyone blocking Russians from leaving Russia if that in fact means less conscripts for the Russian army to fight in Ukraine?

Edit: I’m obviously not in favor of having every Russian roaming our streets before a proper background check by intelligence services, including Ukrainian ones. I’m talking about Refugee camps, that btw will come very handy when we afterwards look for war criminals and witnesses for a war crimes tribunal.

  3. Finland has fewer than 6 million people.
If everyone that wants to flee from Russia to Finland is allowed, then Finland becomes a Russian province.

  4. Controversial opinion but I think it could be a better move to allow them to flee Russia and settle in Europe. The people willing to flee should not pose problems in the EU. We should not blindly label Russian’s as evil. They are not the same as their government. There was once a famous Russian in exile who returned by train and sparked a revolution… any real political dissident will either come from outside russia or from within the sivloki class.

  5. From what I’m reading, the mobilization only works on those who actually show up for the call (or put themselves in a position where they can be sent there forcefully).

If that’s really the case, all the pro-Putin men go to (hopefully) die at the frontlines. That should leave Russia with a lot of those who oppose the war or are at least indifferent about it. But now if all those people flee the country… There’ll not even be a potential for things to change.

The only thing that can change anything is pressure from within. The outside can’t do anything because of the threat of nukes.

Not to mention, which neighbouring country in their sane mind would want to give Putin an excuse to invade them to protect the new Russian minority. Georgia is in a really tough spot if those Russians decide to stay there long-term forming a community by the border gobbling up all the Russian propaganda and telling Georgians how shit they are and how glorious mother Russia is. Crazier even, Georgia was stripped of some of its land by those very same ppl not so long ago. We’ll get to see history repeat itself for the 9th time. Fun times ahead /s.

  6. As estonian who actually saw how this sitution developed. Too few local russian spoke up agianst war at begin . They were apolitical or very pro war. Domintant side was pro war and now we do not want any more russians. Fuck them.
There were also soviets monuments what we removed. Russians strike more about monuments than war. Fuck them.
