Would a ‘Blue Lane’ for motorcycles work on Irish roads?

  1. Maybe

But we have very few motorcyclists. And if there is any space available I’d much rather a bike or bus lane. So I don’t really see the need

  2. Oh yes, because blue paint is the one thing that Irish motorists won’t cross. White lines mean fuck all but blue is when shit gets real. No, I can’t see it working, or at least not as well as in that video.

Do we even need them? It’s rare enough to see motorbikes stuck in traffic.

  3. I think it’d cause more accidents because of cars needing to change lanes with bikes wizzing past in-between.

  4. Irish motorists can barely comprehend the existence of a second lane, never mind multiple types like that.

I’d fully expect vans to park in it

  5. If the way motorists treat bicycle lanes is any indication, abso-fucking-lutely not.

Rules of the road are often treated like guidelines in Ireland and we have poor enforcement of traffic regulations here so I’d have little faith in the rules being followed properly.

  6. Motorbikes are more common in Brazil so this makes sense. Don’t think there is enough motorbikes in Ireland to warrant a specific lane for them.
