In the grand scheme of the mismanagement of Dublin Airport this is small, but how poor is it that every single ATM is out of order?! I went to 5 different ATMs and the only one that was working was only giving out sterling.

Not good enough for the main airport in a major European city.

  1. They’re just doing tourists a favour … What you don’t have in your pockets can’t be robbed at needle point.

  2. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again Dublin airport is a shit hole. It’s literally the worst airport I have ever flown through in my life. It’s filthy, the services are crap, ages to get bags delivered, long queues.
It’s the first impression of the country that many people get and it’s a disgrace that we allow it. Government should put the board of directors on notice. Three months to sort it out or nationalise it

  3. Perhaps you might want some for when you land at your destination. Not every country accepts cards as widely as we do.

  4. The first and last thing you see when you visit a country is the airport. Especially when it’s an island. The impression that this country has left on people over the last 6 months in particular, because of the appalling state of the airport, is very poor.

Went away with the kids (and a lot of luggage) to the airport last Friday. Bus driver from red car park tells us he only goes to T2. Not the worst walk from T2 to T1, but with 2 small kids and lots of bags, and not a trolley in sight, it adds to the stress at 6am.

  5. Disgusting isn’t it? What are they doing the entire place is in shambles.

Not to mention if your not white Irish apperently now your getting abused by Billy big bollix thinking he’s great interrogating arrivals.

    – there’s a video of this on r/Ireland.

  6. I remember just over a decade ago, there was underwater work being done and they ended up cutting some pipe in the middle of the ocean and we (Ireland) didn’t have Internet for a week.

What happens when everything goes cashless and something like this happens again.

  7. Dublin is not by any measure a “major european city”
That would be berlin, paris, milan, barcelona, mardid… dublin is a shitstain of an oversized mismanaged town in the fringes of europe.

  8. If you have a card to take out money then surly you can just pay with the card or your phone. Also I disagree with your assessment that Dublin a major European city.

  9. A good airport experience goes a long way. Spending thousands to go on holiday and the airport is in the state that Dublin’s is in you wouldn’t be too quick to go back.

  10. As ever I don’t want to let DAA off the hook but – the actual ATMs not working is the fault of whatever firm they outsourced the ATM provision to. As far as I remember I think the ATMs in the airport are all from Euronet which is a private ATM service.

On the other hand I’ll happily blame DAA for just having a single ATM provider in the airport and not thinking about what might happen if that firm has some major IT headache.
