I hope they’ll set up a permanent NATO base in Finland when you guys join.
just wait until the hardest part of the training, the sauna
a finn named teemu will beat you with a birch leaves and you must try to relax
This is actually the most significant of the many recent excercises. A good sized logistics element for two months. These kind of excercises are what lay down the long term basics for a situation where US Marines were to actually take part in defending Finland.
I wonder if they will be sent to polar regions for the experience.
I mean, it’s good to get some experience at the latitudes and climates of North Eastern parts of Russia. Definitely during the Autumn and Winter.
I don’t know what they’re doing in Finland, but I was in the US Marines years back. We used to go to Norway for mountain training. Cold weather/televard skiing/stuff like that. There was no amphibious assault component unless you count us riding the LCACs in from the ships to the beach. IOW it was 100% about us learning from Norwegian forces.
That was something the USMC did annually for many years. I have to wonder if this isn’t a way to raise the amount of troops that get to participate and/or a way to just be that much closer to Putin’s face while doing so.
Finland was a neutral country and now they’re doing this. They shouldn’t allow it.
Just dont attack “JOULUPUKKI” even though he wears red
Good news TBH.
It means our government thinks that we at least survive this autumn, good…
