Switzerland to legalise recreational and medical cannabis usage

now do all the other psychedelics
About damn time, not that it really matters to stoners
Yes, I heard. But, no it will certainly not be legalized in 2022.
Why? Because there is no bill yet. Second, because the outcome of [the linked trail](https://www.swissinfo.ch/eng/zurich-to-launch-recreational-cannabis-trial/46946820) will be a fundamental part in the decision if weed should be legalized or not.
>Für die Kommission des Ständerates ist dabei zentral, dass die SGK-N die Ergebnisse der anlaufenden Pilotprojekte zum nicht medizinischen Cannabiskonsum berücksichtigt.
>
>For the commission of the Council of States, it is central that the SGK-N takes into account the results of the ongoing pilot projects on non-medical cannabis use.
Source: [Media release from the SGK-S](https://www.parlament.ch/press-releases/Pages/mm-sgk-s-2021-10-19.aspx).
The [law which allows those trials](https://www.bag.admin.ch/bag/en/home/gesund-leben/sucht-und-gesundheit/cannabis/pilotprojekte.html) was only changed September last year and came in force this spring and they will last for 5 years.
Third, [the process to get a bill](https://www.parlament.ch/en/%c3%bcber-das-parlament/how-does-the-swiss-parliament-work) at first, the public consultation period, all of the readings and votes in both chambers, plus finally the potential referendum can take a lot of time for something unimportant as the legalization of weed. It takes around 3 years.
So what is a realistic time frame? 6 to 8 years from now.
I would bet a lot that this will first have to pass a referendum. Way to many close minded people in the parliament to pass without one.
Btw: The Local at its finest.
>And, as with nearly everything else in decentralised Switzerland, “there are still considerable differences between cantons regarding implementation of the fixed penalty procedure”.
No there are no differences anymore. Since January 1st 2021 it is now part of the [Federal OBV](https://www.fedlex.admin.ch/eli/cc/2019/93/de) and in addition there are now more than enough cases brought to the Federal court were the cantons and cities have been slapped on the wrists because they did interpret [the Art. 19a and 19b NarcA](https://www.fedlex.admin.ch/eli/cc/1952/241_241_245/en#art_19_a) in some rather strange ways.
Yes, we heard, it is posted in this sub once or twice a week.

Legal weed plus a complete lack of societal interest in protecting nonsmokers and young children from secondhand smoke, really? I would say someone should start a referendum to prohibit smoking within 5 meters of a public transport entrance or a children’s playground… But knowing that even if it succeeded, nobody would care because nobody would be fined, why bother.
Better title:
> 3.5y pilot program for legalized weed to start in autumn 2022.
First time I’m hearing more about the launch date and duration of the program. The glacial march towards legalization continues!

I think they will have to speed this up. Germany is set to legalize in probably 1-2 years, this will lead to huge problems due to the shared border
