Abolish border controls, Brussels tells Stockholm

  1. >Border controls between Denmark and Sweden in Malmö, Helsingborg,
Trelleborg, and Ystad were introduced in the wake of the 2015 refugee
crisis for Sweden to control refugee flows. Despite being a temporary
measure, they have been extended every six months since.

    >According to Johansson, this goes against a rule that internal border controls can last a maximum of six months.

  2. lol..yah stop checking who enters your country bruh, that’s so old school. who cares if they are smuggling guns or whatever ☮️

  3. Schengen free border area is integral to the EU. Makes sense. If you don’t like open borders like the Brits, Swexist is always an option

  4. A remarkable coincidence that this Swedish social democrat comissioner only raise this critique shortly after her own social democrat party lost the national election and the power of government.

Since 2015 Sweden has had “temporary” border control. Comissar Ylva Johansson was minister of employment from 2014-2019 in the social democrat government who imposed the border control and has upheld it ever since.

While I agree 100% that border control needs to be abolished within the EU, the swedish commissioners level of hypocrisy is hard to stomach. It’s completely unacceptable that the EU policy on borders is basically determined by the narrow interests of Swedens social democrat party.

  5. While I think we should honor the Schengen Agreement, this is not for Brussels to decide. We can’t have the level of influx in economic refugees the way we’ve had for 8 years.

I’m all for helping people in dire need of protection but people use and abuse the system to the brink of collapse.

Our welfare system isn’t cheap and our taxes can’t be raised much further to sustain it, so in the end we might sacrifice the very thing making people want to come here in order to honor any and every agreement.
