Buna ziua,

I need your suggestions!

Born in Romania, I moved to France when I was two. As a result, I never got the chance to discover what Romania looks like, apart from going on holiday to my grandparent’s house. As I want to reconnect with my homeland, I decided to explore Romania for two months, starting today. I want to discover its breathtaking nature, trails, wildlife, fascinating culture, traditions, folklore and stories, fun things to do, parties, and meet new people.

But here is the regions I plan to explore for the next two months in Romania:📍Bucuresti📍Brasov📍Baile Tusnad📍Targu Neamt📍Vatra Dornei📍Maramures📍Cluj Napoca📍Sighisoara📍Hunedoara📍Baile Herculane📍Bucuresti

What have been the most beautiful, inspiring places in Romania you’ve experienced? What have been the places you felt the most energized?

Edit: Wow, I have received so many beautiful suggestions! THANKS SO MUCH!! If you want to know more about it, I created a video to present more about the project [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jeEc\_OdXGEI&t=57s](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jeEc_OdXGEI&t=57s) .

  1. There are also some beautiful roads – Transfăgărășan, Transalpina and Defileul Jiului. There is also the area called Cazanele Dunării that is very nice.

  2. In Cluj Napoca:”Alexandru Borza” Bothanical Garden, Piata Unirii, Sain Michael’s Church in the town center, Piata Muzeului, serve some local street food: palanete, Central Park, THe Orthodox Cathedral, maybe enjoy a soap opera at the Naitonal Theater “Mihai Eminescu”, serve some cremay cake at Mozart Caffee, a good beer at Enigma Caffee, a great steak at Panoramic, a great burger at Klausen Burger, enjoy the Cluj view from Cetatuie and the night lights in Piata Muzeului.Next day, visit Moara de Vant (a sort of zoo) where you can hand-feed the animals, visit the Turda Salt mine and maybe (if you have time) follow the trails to Cetatile Ponorului.

In Vatra Dornei I don’t know much, but around Vatra Dornei, you can check out the UNESCO heritage village “Ciocanesti”, the place is an open museum as all houses have Romanian motifs, they have a museum of painted eggs, and if you wish and have time, attend the church on Sundays as oyu might catch locals wearing traditional clothing.

In Maramures, the tallest building in Romania, the Phoenix Furnace (a ruin), the town of Baia Mare which in the period 23-25 September celebrates “Chestnuts days”. They have the best roasted chestnuts and prepare the best chestnut puree. Other than that, the mountain formation around Baia Mare: Creasta Cocosului (The Rooster’s Crest), the tallest wooden church, the Peri-Sapanta monastery, Ocna Sugatag salt baths, SIghetu Marmatiei, the Merry Cemetary from Sapanta, theand there was a hard trail on the Varful Pietrosu mountain (2400m altitude), from around Borsa. If you’re in the area, maybe the Prislop Monastery, where the protected-by-law flower grows: Floare de Colt.

  3. Near Targu Neamt you can visit the Neamt Keep (Cetatea Neamt) and the Natural Park Vanatori Neamt. From Vatra Dornei you can visit the Rarau mountain with “Pietrele Doamnei” rock formation that you can climb all the way to the top but the climb is difficult so you better have adequate shoes. Voronet monastery in Gura Humorului (a town near Vatra Dornei).
