Alex Belfield: Former BBC presenter jailed for stalking

  1. Anyone who calls himself ‘the voice of reason’ is probably one of the least reasonable people of all.

  2. Good. The damage he’s caused is terrible – driving people to the brink of suicide and then posting his vile idiocy online. I cannot for the life of me understand why people defend him. He’s got plenty of time to think about his mistakes now.

  3. Obviously I don’t know all the evidence and details of the case but it seems odd to me that he is found guilty for offences against the four men he targeted, but not guilty against all four women.

I’m not sure what, if anything, this means but it does just stand out.

  4. I watched a few of his videos… he’s clearly unhinged, and it baffles me quite how many ‘followers’ he managed to amass. Just shows that literally anyone spouting conspiracies against the establishment can make a career out of it these days. There’s an endless stream of morons to make money off.

  5. I’d never heard of the guy to be honest. Just checked his YouTube channel, though. My god, what a slew of random angry drivel. It’s a bewilderingly unstructured rant about anything and everything, all of which is “lefties” fault, for reasons that aren’t explained – even Boris Johnson is lefties fault, as is the vaccination programme.

The worst part is his whiny delivery, though. It’s like listening to a manically depressive Kenneth Williams on a coke bender.

  6. I’m fairly sure I saw this guy at Farnborough Airshow one year talking to one of the stewards there. I only caught a bit of the convo but it seemed he was being arsey towards her. I saw his photo in the news last month and knew I recognised him from somewhere and it took me a few days to remember where from. He seems like a very sorry individual this seems like a very depressing case for all involved.

  7. Actual child molesters are regularly catching less time than this. No sympathy for this guy but like….fucksake, british justice system, get it together.

  8. Hahahaaaa. Enjoy jail you sack of shit. God this guy’s YT channel was so hateful. I’m amazed he’s actually facing consequences for his actions, and really serious ones in this case. Evidently, sometimes your evil deeds do come back to bite you. What would be good were if his channel and videos were taken down too.

  9. Good. Him and everyone who supported him through this is a worthless scumbag piece of shit

Edit: downvotes from stalker supporting human garbage

  10. If his YouTube channel is as bad as it gets, this sentence is a disgrace to the English legal system and any notion of a free society or an open internet. Mocking public figures is not worth five years of prison time, no matter how many you mock, no matter how foul your language when doing so and no matter why you’ve chosen to mock them

However, I am curious as to how far he went ‘off-screen’ in terms of haranguing the claimants, especially as this supposedly goes back as far as 2012. Even if in a country as backwards as the UK, five years for tweeting someone seems too crazy to be believed

PS. He does seem like the kind of person who thinks himself invincible, so I can believe if he went too far and on a more personal/physical level

  11. I dislike Alex he is a weirdo and a narcissist but that sentence is a tad excessive considering some people don’t even get five years for manslaughter or rape.
