There is a gun limit except if you own a museum or any other collector status. As a part of a collaboration with the EU we have voted new regulations and some models of guns semi auto or bolt action are banned (unless those in circulation before the ban), it mostly depends on the size of the gun. And a k31 for only 100 CHF? I’ve been to gun shops and exhibitions and I’ve never seen a gun below 500CHF.
Not since the 2019 changes to the weapons act. The law on high capacity magazines, high capacity semi automatic rifles, converted soldier’s weapons, and carbines that have a short folding length has changed. Those are now listed as “forbidden weapons” and require a special “small exemption” permit for sports shooters rather than the standard WES acquisition permit described in this infographic. These permits are obtained in almost the same manner as described for previous WES permits, and are still “shall issue” from the cantonal weapons office. These rules were changed to comply with the EU weapons directive component of the Schengen agreement. There is a new version of this infographic detailing the new laws made by reddit user SwissBloke that you can find somewhere on reddit.
It’s very much out of date as there has been an update to the firearm laws but you better read up on that on the FedPol Honepage.
Also, the prices are hilarious, if you can find any if that for those prices then please ring me up ASAP!
It’s odd that I can get a rifle, made in Italy cheaper in the USA than in Europe. Especially with current exchange rates.
You usually hear and read a lot of bullshit about firearms and ways to get them, including from seasoned shooters (of all people). Always use the information from Fedpol website, they have the most recent and reliable documents. I purchased some in the last few years and even received wrong infos from shooting instructors! For instance, some say that to be registered as a collector you should have a certain number of actual “collectible” pieces. It is wrong.
That being said, your info is indeed outdated. Currently the regular purchase permit implies limited magazine capacity for both pistols and rifles, and a minimal length of the firearms.
Lmao, that infographic created a shitstorm when I first made it.
Not it’s not up-to-date, use the other one created by Squidward.
Does the same regulation apply to a residents that are on a B permit?
