  1. Thanks for posting – what a stupid fucking question from presenter and a great response from Phil regarding race vs Irishness

  2. Aww. I found that very quaint and adorable, and a bit embarrassing all at the same time.

Yeah to be fair they were questions of the time to be fair. A black Irish music star breaking into the UK market. You had to ask the question back then. And it was honest I think and not loaded.

Nowadays with UK TV, it’s all about, so how were your emotions after/before blah blah, then try and pick holes, if you have been affected by this or that, so for me retrospectively that was a bit better.

  3. IMO Róisín Dubh is probably the finest example of an Irish rock song ever written. Themselves and Rory are our greatest musical exports. I love seeing old clips like this.

  4. Brian Downey must have been fuming when she said Phil was the only constant so the sound was purely down to him. Bad karma for Phil not correcting her also. Great band!! But such a cringe interview… Darren looks and sounds like a teenager.

  5. “Philip, what is it like to be part black, part dog and part Irish?” was the way this was going, what a bizarre interview.
The boys were on the way out by Renegade, it’s an awful album, hard to believe it’s only 2 years after Black Rose which has some great music on it.

  6. Can someone back me up on this. She seems chirpy, energetic and feeding them plenty of questions for which they can get into and elaborate on (maybe the race one was a bit dumb) but they are completely lifeless and boring.
