Ukraine receives U.S. air defence system

  1. Raytheon must be rubbing their hands. NASAMS is the same system the US uses to clear the air space around the White House, among other things, but it has never officially seen real combat, so this will be the first time.

Other NATO countries also have them and will be watching closely. They should be able to chop at least some of the Russian cruise missiles and air craft into pieces. It is a medium range system with capabilities that stop short of basic ballistic missile defense.

The longer range interoperable SAM system NATO has is the more widely known (and older) MIM-104 Patriot.
