Many foreigners don’t know that tap water in Norway is great. Most places it’s better than bottle water. It’s literally spring 💦 water many places. It’s not something we talk about, we take it for granted. Just want to inform about that amazing thing in Norway.

  1. Here on the island you can charge 400 NOK a bottle, if you go through the trouble of filling it up. I prefer my unlimited tap

  2. I do have to admit the tap water in Norway is amazing. Where I come from the tap water is full of stuff… smells like sulphur and taste is even worse, leaves a white residue on glasses, cookware and your skin.
When I moved here, my skin got much softer and i don’t need to buy bottled water anymore.

  3. Some americans are disgusted by the idea, even

“YOU DRINK FROM THE TAP?! 🤮”
Simply because they’ve never imagined something so great

Edit: EVERY SINGLE PERSON THAT HAS EVER LIVED IN THE US* instead of some, because that’s how some of you read this comment…

  4. What about the pipes? Where I moved to in Norway the youngest houses are 65 years old. The waters clean to start with but does it stay clean on the way to your house?

  5. As far as I’m concerned, tap water is drinkable in all the nordics, although I can imagine it tastes best in Norway and northern Sweden.

  6. I always thought the water in Oslo was kinda gross tasting. Really couldn’t force myself to drink it. Bought a water filter and usually only drank Farris. >.<

  7. It depends a bit on where in Norway you live, but a lot of the time tap water tastes much better than bottled water.

  8. This isn’t true where I live south of Oslo. Yes, you won’t get sick but the waterpipes are old and leaky. Last week we had a leak out in the street and the pipes got full of muddy water. Some places the municipalities have neglected water pipe renovation for many years on the notion that «Norwegian water is so clean». Also the central water authoroties were I live had a review of our water tower and found leaks in the roof and that several unaurhorized people had access to it because of the telecom and radio antennas on the roof. Also the drinking water is from a lake polluted by chemicals from a millitary air port. We can drink the water but not eat the fish because of the accumulated pollution in them.

  9. Had some american relatives over from seattle, and we were going on a hiking trip. And filled my bottle with tap water and tvey just looked at me shocked that we had free drinkable water in the kitchen.Went to mountains and filled my bottle with water from a stream.I actually thought that they were going to pass out.The idea drinking water without some sort of filter was like going to the moon for them and they were exsperienced mountain people. So sometimes we forget how lucky we are to have pure water

  10. Yea im in kristiansand until december and tap water is really great here! Im from rome and i sometimes drink tap water there when i dont feel like going to the store and buying bottles, but here it’s just on another level

  11. You know that fancy Voss water Americans pay an insane amount of money for?
That’s regular Norwegian tap water. It’s not even the best tap water around.

  12. Yeah i come from england in a soft water area, its still trash compared to anything/any place ive been in norway

  13. Same in Iceland, easy to take it for granted. And apparently easy to lie to tourists to get them to buy the hotels bottled water.

  14. I came from Hungary where tap water is drinkable and is considered OK quality on most places. But I still used a purifier jug to drink it because it tasted a lot better. Here in Norway water tastes the same as my purified water in Hungary. Also in Hungary and many other countries they use very high levels of chlorine to clear the water and as far as I know it’s not being used in Norway. I’m very sensitive to it, if that water gets into my eyes it gets red and itchy, if it gets into my nose I can’t stop sneezing. It doesn’t happen here and also my scalp eczema magically healed since I’m washing my hair with this water… My skin is also way less dry after showers. It’s truly a miracle to experience this.

  15. I landed in Oslo and was taken to the company apartment in Grønland. Right when the guy is leaving I ask him where I might find the nearest supermarket cos I need to get water and some food. He was like, water? Why?. I told his its been a long flight and I’ve drank all the water that I was carrying. He looked absolutely confused and pointed towards the tap in the sink and said, “the water is right here. Just open the tap and drink as much as you want”

  16. In my city in Italy is spring water too, sucks anyway XD
In my city in Norway tho, it’s taken from a nearby lake, almost a horror story XD
