I’m Irish, I’d like to see a United Ireland, but more than that I want people on this island to live good, safe, comfortable lives. Unionism, if we want to get as binary as Bryson, has been in charge for over 20 of those Good Friday years. A Nationalist FM (designate, with due provisos about the whole DFM and FM being constitutionally equal thing etc) is recent. And it’s a position lost largely due to DUP idiocy and intransigence, more than demographics.
Northern Ireland should be doing better. Two decades on and the political institutions are in near constant crisis, a position egged on by Bryson and his ilk. This should be a wake up call for Unionism. They have the upper hand, they have the status quo! They should be making the affirmative case for their union. Leveraging their position as a success story for the US and Europe in peace, vying for a middle way position on Brexit that places them at the centre of things and a natural position for UK-EU trade. They could be building a situation where unification would be economically ruinous, if they really wanted to be cynical about it.

He doesnt even try to hide his disdain for respecting the results of democratic elections. I didnt hear him complaining about them having a unionist First Minister for 24 out of the last 25 years since the Good Friday Agreement, he was fine with democracy then. Its only when the election results dont produce what he wants that he has a problem with it.
He is a total utter hypocrite and a sectarian bigot to boot but it is rather enjoyable laughing at his unhinged rants, I believe the Germans have a word for it.
