They are going to get it running later on Sunday, so not a big deal really. Added a few eurocents per kWh to the hourly spot prices of electricity though.
“TVO said that the unit is to be gradually powered up on Sunday with the aim of generating 1.21 Gigawatts of electricity by evening.”
Perkele.
Failures in complicated systems follow a bathtub curve: a lot right after starting it and then right at the end of its life, after it is known that something else is coming to replace it.. It is to be expected, hopefully it is not a fundamental design fault.. But then again, if the problem is in the steam turbines: we know how to make those so changing from one to another is not a disaster, but a significant delay. It would mean only a slight drop in performance, or none at all.
Lets hope it is just teething problems, and that the reactor itself works perfectly.. not worried of a melt down or anything like that but those problems can take really, really long to fix.
