  1. We need to stop treating prison like the naughty step.

They commit terrible crimes and then just spend a year or two in prison (meeting far more criminals) and are released for “time served”, whilst the public is still in danger.

Sentencing should be linked to danger to the public, the [Imprisonment for Public Protection](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Imprisonment_for_public_protection) orders were a great step for that (unfortunately abolished by the Coalition government).

We should also consider hormone treatments for violent criminals – [testosterone has been strongly linked to violent crime and crime within prisons](https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/abs/pii/019188699400177T).

Public protection has to come before the rights of criminals.

  2. Among the other mountain of problems that need fixing before this stops happening, the police need to take grooming far more seriously. The criminal underworld specifically uses children because they get punished less by police and also can be manipulated easily. The natural result of that is children carrying knives to keep themselves “safe”, and the natural result of that is….

  3. This type of teenager on teenager killing is seemingly becoming more and more prevalent, to an extent where it is becoming unsurprising. I do not recall this being so common when I was young in the 00’s and my parents dont remember it being like this in the 80’s.

To be blunt, these kind of killings sound like a societal regression. And I can only assume it is because of rising insecurity, nihilism and people from hyper damaged immigrant families.
