    I saw something on twitter about them a while back, they are council owned, but empty because they were to be knocked as part of the potential development of the ground. To create a new entrance.

    Could be different ones.

  2. I live next door to a vacant property.

    It last sold in 2009 for 400k+. It was bought right before the crash by someone with more money than sense and its been barely lived in since – there’s an old man who lives abroad and stays there for like 3 days a month.

    I wouldn’t advise anyone pay more than 150k for it. I bought a bigger house next door for 200k and renovated for 100k. The place next door needs at least 150k and after it’s done up, it’s a 3.5bed in a Midlands town, it’s value is capped at 300k.

    My point? It’s vacant because the cost + risks of renovating at very high and too much for most buyers unless you’re super enthusiastic and can spend your time micromanaging the whole process (assuming the owner will even sell – still has delusions she can recover a decent chunk of her 400k).

    There’s tonnes of properties like this across the country where the work required to modernise is an exhausting project and councils can’t dedicate people to fixing a place up. It’s cheaper to buy a place that’s ready to be lived in.

  3. The boarded up house in that picture has been vacant since at least 2002. I lived in phibsborough from late 2002 to 2017 and that house is been empty for all those years. There’s at least 2 other houses on that street also derelict for the same period.
