  1. They’re parodying the kind of hollow minded poverty tourism often perpetuated by rich westerners who pose with native kids in poor regions and spout clichéd shit.

It is a bit ironic that they mock cultural ignorance in that comment section whilst writing

    > *In the Arms of an Angel song plays in the background

    >For 99 cents a day, you too can save little Adalbjorg from a life of poverty. Call today!*

‘Here’s some shit that sounds vaguely nordic’ is no less ignorant than ‘here’s some shit that sounds vaguely African’ but whatever.

  2. Wait erum við Íslendingar totem minority ethnic þegar kemur að því að gera grín að vestrænum samfélögum?

  3. If you go into the twitter threads of that tweet you will see a lot of examples of this is making fun of western people travelling to poorer countries to have a spiritual awakening in their journey to “save” the natives over there. If it’s considered racism or reverse racism or simply a joke is not up to me, but the content there is as cringy as these “saviors” which you used to see on social media, in jest or not.

  4. When we require foreigners to come to Iceland to build schools and feed our starving population, by all means, come and take all the photos you want or don’t want, in case you don’t want to raise awareness.

  5. A parody of white folk going to African nations to take photos with sick/poor black children as if they are “helping” them & their plight.
