If Truss’s ‘mini-Budget’ fails, her whole project could be doomed

  1. I don’t know any investor, banker or rich person who praises this – only real estate vultures… Honestly, I’m at a loss, it’s insane; it’s grounded in erroneous ideological abstracts over any logical reasoning or historic precedent.

  2. She is economically clueless. Fact.

Once she has been to a Davos or WEF meeting she will be ‘re-educated’ and play properly. Or she will be dealt with. /s **

    **(perhaps /s, perhaps not)

  3. The only project she seems to have going on is feathering her own nest.

None of what she is doing right now has anything to do with helping the country

  4. Lol. This mini budget is for a mini project. Asset strip and fill pockets of whoever is giving her a bribe before the election in 2024.

This is a speed run. It is not even meant to succeed for the whole.

  5. It can’t fail; either the rich get richer and the electorate decide to vote for Truss again, or the county gets mired in debt, public services collapse and Labour get elected with a complete hospital pass of a job to do that will virtually guarantee the right-wing press convince the electorate to vote in the Tories next time around.

  6. Firmly believe Truss and Kwarteng will be the nail in the Tory coffin. 2 years to go, should be plenty of time for Labour, maybe even LD to get their acts together and oust Conservative MPs.

Admittedly, this is wishful thinking on my part.

  7. Do people think Truss or anyone in her Government actually cares? They know in 2 years time they’ll get voted out and are just setting their mates up now so they return the favour when they’re out of office

  8. For me, there are levels of acceptable for a government. The very first thing I ask for is for the people in charge to have a clear plan, or at the very least a vision. Then, I want to be able to be presented this plan and understand it. Agreeing is obviously better, but if there is a plan, there is still a chance that I may be wrong and it might work.

In this case however, I just don’t feel like they have any plan at all, besides passing laws and regulations to profit the very top earners and predatory landlords. I simply don’t see this going anywhere.

  9. Fuck her product. *When* this budget fails, our fucking country fails. We are broken. We are so very broken and I feel we are watching the downfall of an entire country.

Why would a 5% tax cut encourage companies to invest in us. Even if they would now move to us, their companies would be based in the Channel Islands, or the Cayman’s and not pay any tax regardless.

Tory cunts know that they’re done. They won’t get back in, so they’re currently setting themselves up for life, and everyone needs to fucking know this.

  10. Let’s make the rich even richer so they continue to vote for us…. Oh, being fair let’s throw some crumbs to the peasants…..

  11. ‘If’? It’s obvious she would fail. Her entire platform is based on lies, corruption and failure, just like her predecessors.

  12. To think there is worse than Boris Johnson. I think by the time we reach the next election a majority of the Tory party would of been Pm.

  13. Well this budget was DoA for all except high-earners (with some help for first time buyers).

Promote ‘growth’ by allowing the rich to siphon off even more wealth? What planet are they on?

When VAT is cut back to 15% (still too high) I’ll believe they care about trade and growth.

  14. Trying to create as large as possible landlord class to rule over the renters and secure future elections. The tories are disgusting human beings. MPs and voters.

  15. People seem optimistic that tories will be voted out

While I hope this is the case too many vote for them (it’s in people’s nature to vote against their self interest) We all know people will want to keep them in especially the rich

Some of you here will say you want them gone but will vote for them when the time comes !

12 years they have ruined the country and how many general elections in that time ? Not many but still opportunities to vote them out and the nation chose not to!

To those that are complaining about the cost of living crisis (which is a total disgrace!) just remember you was happy to take furlough money and beg for lockdowns so in effect the people wanted this now they got it ! Maybe this winter will make you think about not voting Tory at the next election I really do ….but I doubt it

  16. And on the 23rd day of September in the year of somebody else’s Lord Two Thousand and Twenty-Two your servant Gwempeckadamus laid his head on a pillow and then was granted a vision of hidden things yet to come. He saw a temporary bounce in GDP and no part of it was vouchsafed to the greater part of the people but many people thought that Kwarteng had performed a miracle.

And yet as the medium term outcomes of the strategy became apparent and the next quarters earnings slipped back towards recession Kwarteng addressed the nation saying, “We have delivered unto you an economic miracle but some are still not pulling their weight. Schoolchildren are still not showing a profit and it costs so much to educate them and yet are they not grateful. So the only way is to cut schools funding and yet there are still private schools for those that prize knowledge.

Also the unemployed are not yet taking the minimum wage jobs that the wealth creators are offering them and so we will freeze benefits for another two years.”

And many people gnashed their teeth and wailed in anguish and wondered who could have voted for such a terrible government and many shy Tories among them got even shyer.

  17. what is her whole project? thought she was just in the right place at the right moment, up against much more well known and hated names. that’s not a project, that’s RNG

  18. Has it not already failed? The pound is almost at parity with the dollar. And no expert out there agrees that this is a good thing.

Kwarteng and Truss are going to strip this country for parts

  19. If? It is totally fiscally irresponsible which is why it hasn’t been announced as a proper budget (which would mean the measures are independently examined).

  20. Could be more should be if doesn’t work we’ll get the blame remember she said British workers were some of the laziest in the world. She’s basically betting on the laziest workers in the world bailing the fuckwit out.

  21. This isn’t a serious budget, it’s essentially just “we’re getting booted out in two years anyway so let’s milk every last drop out of the poors before that happens”.

  22. If the market reaction continues in the same vein as Friday then there will be no hiding from this monumentally bad move.

What is the point of lowering taxes if interest rates are going to have to be hiked to defend the pound?

  23. Her whole project is the doom, they exist to do nothing other then play us for fools for personal benifit

  24. They don’t care, they’ve lowered the pound, so cashing in on bullion, oil, and what ever else those filthy Tory robbing cunts have got there filthy hands on, will make a fortune out of it.
