A standard culture war dog whistle.
I’m not sure this country could survive a year with Liz Truss and Company in charge, we really need an election called as soon as possible.
What a tosser, who wouldn’t envy a warm home, well stocked food cupboard, and no money worries. What utter cunts.
They know they no longer need to pretend to be a competent or responsible government, the next election is 2024 and we have spycops legislations, breaking international law, anti protest laws, strict internet regulations, etc, coming.
We’re in dangerous times.
This echoes that MP; forget who it was – who said the general public was only complaining during the expenses scandal because “they’re all just jealous”
Funny how taxing the rich is “politics of envy” but them bitching about train drivers earnings or footballers wages is fine in their book…
Lol “you poors are just jealous of us, stop complaining”
Fuck that pencil headed dweeb. Sick of seeing that prick on the media.
The Tories have given up pretending they’re not corrupt.
How far out of touch are these folk? Reduced taxes for posh toffs don’t cause more investment as has been seen in the USA. The trickle down economics is bollocks. Tax the rich into the ground and don’t borrow what you can’t pay back. That’s the real budget needed here. Not these Tory backscratching antics.
“we’re interested in encouraging people to be aspirational as much as they possibly can for themselves and for their families.”
This isn’t fucking Hello Magazine, you out of touch Tory sack of shit.
If the country was working and we were talking about taxing the rich on principle then that would be the politics of envy. When the government *borrows money* in order to give a tax cut to *people who do not need one* at a time when a significant number of other people are starving and desperate and not getting enough help that’s just the politics of total irredeemable stupidity.
But this is what you get when you let 200,000 rich and selfish idiots choose the government and it’s he reason why we need to pick our leaders by general election and expect them to stick to the mandate from that election until the next one.
Nobody voted for this lunacy. Let’s get back to the politics of *democracy* so we can kick these squatters out!
im increasingly interested in the policies of vlad tepesh.
just wait for the insane complaining from the tories when labour come to power in two years and are forced to raise taxes just to keep the lights on in whitehall.
Not sure worrying about paying your bills counts as envy, but whatever.
Let’s have that general election.
at this stage, surely what they say on whatever programme they decide to whore themselves on means absolutely nothing.
The market has spoken and unequivocally decided that this mini-budget is absolutely shocking . They can’t really dress up the tanking of the GBP… can they?
Envy? No, we are against the greed of excessive, unnecessary wealth.
I will gladly support the envy of the poor who fight to survive day after day over the greedy and gluttony of billionaires who just want to hoard more and more
If you become richer because your friends in the govt (whose campaigns you helped fund) give you tax cuts *based on borrowing*, then you’re not prospering from the sweat off your own brow are you? People aren’t “envious” that you’ve been successful, they’re PISSED OFF BECAUSE YOU’RE CORRUPT AND DON’T DESERVE IT.
To begin to benefit from scrapping the additional tax rate you need to earn >£150k. But really for this to be of interest you need to learn a lot more.
If you are paid £151k then the 1k would be taxed at 40% not 45%, so you’d gain an additional £50 a year in tax relief. So even when you see £150k bandied around, it’s really more like having a single earner that’s making £200k+, and that assumes they’re paying 0% into their pension, as that reduces their tax liability. Many people getting up to those numbers are going to be maxing out their pension so at £200k, you’d be paying £40k to your pension, meaning you’re taxable amount is £160k.
“Politics of envy”. Yeah, sure if you are jealous that your neighbour can afford an expensive new car or whatever. But when you are jealous that they can afford to eat well and heat their house comfortably that’s a whole different thing.
So executives on £1m+ wages will gain to the tune of hundreds of thousands, and this during a cost of living crisis.
I mean, it’s a joke right? This isn’t the real budget?
Workers wanting better wages for actually creating value and allowing society to function, how greedy and envious of them they should be happy with their stupid decisions and inferior lives.
I wonder how all the highly successful businesses manage to generate so much profit. It can’t be the men and women who build, maintain, spend years of their lives doing the actual things required for it all to exist and function. Nope. Just meetings and owning things is the real value, without important business practices that specifically prey on people with little capital, how would things work. We should all just be entrepreneurs and be CEO’s. Then our economy will really thrive. Think of how brilliant it would be and everyone so rich and having so many businesses all making and creating so much with all that infinite resources earth definitely has.
Hopefully no one witholds their labour in protest wouldn’t that be awful.
