I mean, he briefly lit his arm on fire. Let’s not compare this level of conviction with Quang Duc.
I mean of all the things in the world to set yourself on fire for…private jets? Really…?
In before all the degrading comments on this specific individual:
We are in an absolute crisis regarding CO2 emissions and our government is actively making it worse. Flying, and private jets particularly, releases insane amounts of carbon and the majority of this comes from frequent travel by elites – our politicians, celebrities, business owners and, yes, tennis players. These actions are absolutely more harmful than any bs accusation you might want to throw at this man.
Props to him for having the balls to do something. Someone needs to.
I haven’t seen the footage. Did he say something like “I protest this and I set myself aflame in the name of ow ow ow that really hurts THAT REALLY HURTS I IMMEDIATELY REGRET THIS!”
Humans are made of carbon. He set himself on fire. He is essentially burning carbon.
Fucking hypocrite.
Kind need to do it properly if you want to make such a political point. This just looks like he’s a street magician.
I was in the arena for this moment, we had no idea what his cause was. We couldn’t see the T-shirt and he didn’t shout anything, we found it out from Twitter later. The court was completely undamaged by the fire, so he just cause a few extra minutes on the player’s break.
The real question to us was how did he get lighter fluid in when we couldn’t even take a bottle of water through security.
Actions like this don’t convince me to ban private jets. It convinces me the activists are fanatical morons.
Aren’t there laws against fire arms in this country?
Yes because burning things is going to help the problem….
Even if all private jet use was eliminated tomorrow it would make fuck-all difference. It’s an infinitesimal percentage of global emissions, there’s just not very many of them. What a fucking stupid thing to set yourself on fire for.
I done that drunk years ago trying to cook some midnight chips
