20 months. What a fucking disgrace. I see harmless individuals get more time for growing cannabis plants, which let’s be honest, is a largely victimless crime. And I’m not talking about industrial scale operations where foreigners/ vulnerable people are exploited. Its fucking insane.
20 months less 50% remission means he will do 10 months. He will also be credited days in custody.
Naturally they’re using this chance to push snooping bills and criticise encryption for crimes that are apparently only worth 20 months jail time.

Apparently our schools aren’t vetting as thoroughly as they should be.
I would get a longer sentence for not paying TV licence.

Teachers are by far the most likely profession to be child sex offenders.
At something like 8x the rate of even Catholic priests.

It seems to me that we live in a society whereby the authorities think people can be fixed with Rehabilitation. They can’t! We have to accept that some people are fundamentaly broken. They cannot be fixed.
Time for a new aporoach:
1 Court TV
2 Every Friday all sex crimes and accused on TV at 12.00
3 List all cases for the public to vote on the sentence.
4 Red button = Life
Blue button = 25 years
Yellow button = 10 years etc etc
Simple and yes there will be the odd miscarriage of Justice but we already have an appeals process so use that. We have become so desensitised about sex crimes they have become the accepted norm.

He was only charged with 4 counts of grooming hence the low sentence. There was evidence that he travelled to meet victims but I think this was quite difficult to prove, hence the charges.
