I disagree. We should not help normalize the illegal occupation of our country. We want foreigners to know that the north belongs to Republic of Cyprus and it is illegally occupied by Turkish troops. We shouldn’t help Turkey in its propaganda that there is a separate country there.
If we want to reduce such posts we could put a sticky clearly explaining that the north part of Cyprus is illegally occupied by Turkey and that most of the properties there (including many hotels) are stolen from the people ethnically cleansed by the Turkish army.
Explain that there is no country, state, district or region called “North Cyprus”, and if they want to refer to the part of Cyprus which is under illegal Turkish occupation they should just describe it as such. And if they didn’t know that there is a part of Cyprus under illegal Turkish occupation, now they do, and there is no excuse.
We could also answer the most frequently asked questions, e.g. that it is illegal to enter Cyprus from that Turkish occupied part, and that the sub will not provide assistance to those who intent to break the laws of our country.

“North Cyprus” is fine as the long as the person saying it acknowledges it’s an occupied territory.
Why not put some signs at the airport, like end illegal occupation or something of that kind.

Can someone explain this to me? I’m not a Cypriot and in three weeks I’m going there for the first time ever. I really don’t want to offend anyone there so if you guys have a word or thing that I can’t say I would love to know about it.
