I am from Russia and for me this news is very surprising. I have been told all my life that the ideologies of humanism and tolerance dominate in Europe.
But in reality, it turned out that humanism manifests itself in Asian countries with a Muslim population and strong traditional values. They let all people fleeing the war into their country and issue the right to reside in the country for several months, when European countries close borders, build walls and make hate speeches to refugees.

Finally, better late than never. Let Russians meet their responsibility aka karma.

To those saying that Russians should be let in: let them into your country, your home. Don’t force the smaller eastern states to shoulder the burden.
Don’t get why the people fleeing right now are somehow responsible for the actions of the Russian Government because they happened to be pushed out of a vagina on the Eastern side of the Finnish Russian border, and therefore deserves to be used as cannon fodder in Ukraine
If enough Russians move to Finland you just know Russia would eventually use it as an excuse to annex parts of their country.
I saw a vox pop clip from finnish public broadcaster where an old man is asked if the border should be closed for russians.
What the duck is happening in this comments. Are you people so brainwashed that you can’t see that people fleeing a clearly fascist regime are fucking refugees and should be accepted with open arms. Every draft dodger is one less soldier commiting war crimes.
If we want to help Ukraine we should accept as much draft dodgers as possible. I mean it’s pure logic.
Why exactly should we want to ban Russian people fleeing? Manpower and brain drain, great propaganda value, moral high ground, economic win for the west vs economic loss for russia. Whats the major upside, that the people trying to flee might storm the palace?
A hundred kilometers border with the lowest density of population most parts without a proper fence? Good luck avoiding young Russian men entering. Leave the car parked in Sortavala and a short pilgrimage
Yeah tourists are not being let in. If you are working, living or have family or medical care here you are allowed in. Also asylum applications are taken in and then decided if its granted. Trying to not get drafted alone doesnt qualify for asylum.
Not that deep. Over 40k russians has Crossed our Border in few days – thats a lot of people, we have no idea who is working for Kreml. Its sad russians who are against the war cannot escape but we need to keep our country and people safe.
