Hungary cannot support any new EU energy sanctions against Russia – govt

  1. We’ll see. At first they also said they would oppose a renewal of the sanctions and then they caved in and voted in favor.

  2. **Can anyone explain why we are keep banning just the imports and not banning all the exports in Russia, excepting medicine?**

I hope you understand that banning exports will not starve the Russians because Russia has enough raw food not to starve. They will not have such a diverse products range, you know like in the war times into a war that they started it.

While we are getting into hunger games for energy, **part of that energy is used to produce products for the Russian market.**

The french Auchan, german Metro and dutch Spar supermarkets are filled up with western products and the Russian industry, with some exceptions, are still receiving spare parts and even new equipment.

The sanctions are not having major effects in the short term for the everyday Russian’s life and they are still enjoying the western products, the only ones who are suffering right now are the Ukrainians and our energy bills.

That’s why the Moscow Russians are affording to say that this war is just politics and they are not making politics.

Also Putin signed the law saying that Russian civil industry can be converted immediately to support “special military operation”. So **now the entire Russian industry could be considered part of the war efforts.**

    >**Three-quarters of top-earning multinationals remain in Russia**, even after 200 days of Russian aggression, war crimes, and mass atrocities against civilians in Ukraine. To date, **only 105 companies have exited the Russian market completely**. At the same time, **more than 1610 international companies**, generating at least $171 billion of local revenue annually, **continue to do business in Russia**

Look what a joke is the EU list with banned exports for Russia:

    >- cutting-edge technology (e.g. quantum computers and advanced semiconductors, high-end electronics and software)
    >
    >- certain types of machinery and transportation equipment
    >
    >- specific goods and technology needed for oil refining
    >
    >- energy industry equipment, technology and services
    >
    >- aviation and space industry goods and technology (e.g. aircraft, spare parts or any kind of equipment for planes and helicopters, jet fuel)
    >
    >- maritime navigation goods and radio communication technology
    >
    >- a number of dual-use goods (goods that could be used for both civil and military purposes), such as drones and software for drones or encryption devices
    >
    >- luxury goods (e.g. luxury cars, watches, jewellery)

  3. >”Hungary has done a lot already to maintain European unity but if there are energy sanctions in the package, then we cannot and will not support it,” Gergely Gulyas told a briefing.

    lol 😀

  4. Still waiting mighty EU to punish this country for this disgusting policies but looks like Orban is well aware how-paralyzed and paper-tiger EU is.

  5. The underwater pipelines are bust, even the last operating NS2. Gazprom announced they are halting delivery from the land pipe across Ukraine. Where is the energy coming from anyway?

  6. Then EU cannot continue to support Hungary financially

I mean look, Orban, you can’t have all the benefits of being in the EU and still be a supporter of Putin.

  7. “Hungary has done a lot already to maintain European unity…” can one be more cynical and hypocritical? A yes… you can always aspire to be Putin…

  8. Biggest sanctions would be to sell all those Russian oligarchs boats or villas and pay for weapons to give to Ukraine. Does daughter of Peskov still live in Paris? Putins lover and his kids in Swirzerland? What about those russian propagandists villas near Como lake? Ukraine could get cold and hungry during this war. They need money

  9. So, if Hungary declares it cannot support the EU, why should the EU support Orban’s autocratic Russian-style regime?

By rightful response the EU should sanction Hungary heavily and kick them out of the Union if this is what their government wants y’know?
