  1. The heartbreak you felt was probably the knowledge that your chef friend had gone somewhere better, and you stuck there one man down without any incoming replacements.

Sure the wages are low, work is fierce, the poverty is rife , but every now and then, every once in a while the boss drives by and I know through his tinted windows he is looking at me, like I’m his very own son, he’s proud of me, I know it.

  2. There’s some craic in it sure. LIKE IN ANY OTHER FUCKIN JOB.

It’s a low paying high stress job. The people complaining are also those who fuckin work in those jobs. I have a list. It’s lengthy.

  3. He lasted a year in the job, a fucking year, you’d barely get to know people you work with in a year. What kind of fucking idiot actually believes this type of shite, they write?

  4. I once worked in a shite restaurant in the North of Ireland like 7 years ago and one of the cooks died of a stroke. I wouldn’t be suprised if it was the stress, he worked 14+ hours a day and didn’t get a break, not even a lunch break
He had to sneak out for smoke breaks and that’s when we’d chat. I never even knew until a customer came in and told me about it, saying how awful it was about a week later. I just assumed he was on holiday. At least this lad got a good send off, the cook at my restaurant didn’t even get the decency of rounding up the staff and telling them about it. I quit the job very soon after because I was like “this job could work me to the grave and not even give a shite when I’m dead. Right I’m off.”

  5. I was in the garda station the last day getting a passport form and the lad in front of me was just after running out of a kitchen in town he was working at because the head chef threatened to kick the head off him, the young lad was trembling
