> any person who refuses to provide a service to another on the grounds of that person’s race, ethnic origin, religion or sexual orientation when that service is intended to be provided to the general public
Is what legal?
Well, it makes me sad to say that it is probably legal. I saw in the past year a number of meetings restricted to blacks, women and queer. I think that the minorities are making a huge mistake by using discrimination for themselves. This is an open door for the coming back of the old time discriminations that we thought were behind us.
I understand that this is not against non-white but it is in the same vein.
This gotta be a joke 😂

>self-identifying as white
lol
You got that too? Fuck ETH man, they should start fixing their own stuff
You just need to identify as white, you do not need to be white. Same thing for nationalities.
* Shay is Filipino, Scottish, and Irish, while Matte is Black and white.
* Meghan is Black and white, while Harry is white.
* Nick is German, English, Scottish, Irish, Italian, and French-Canadian while Priyanka is Indian.
Yeah why?
Funniest part is Danielle Isler, the person holding the workshop, [is black](https://www.danielle-isler.com/.So) maybe she “self-identifies as White”…
Now to anwer to the OP’s question, I think this is legal. And it doesn’t surprise me now that I’m pretty sure Switzerland isn’t as bothered by racism as any other neighboring country, Germany included.
you can make the most money with old and with stupid. Old wisdom from the sale.
You think racism only works on black people? No.
It is completely “legal”, if you are an anti-racist, you can be as racist as you want
If woman only or black only is accepted and gets cherished then I also cherish for male white only as well ✌️
90% of these commenters could really use such a workshop LMAO
Why would it not be legal? It limits a workshop registration to its intended audience.
Indigenous.
Wouldn’t indigenous to Switzerland mean Swiss mean?
I hate when they use indigenous outside North America.
It makes negative sense
Pretty dumb to make it white only. I get not wanting to be just a poc self help group, because that’s not what it’s aiming to become, but having the input of the people affected by the topic at hand would be extremely useful.
Not to mention poc can have internalized racial biases too, so this might benefit some as well.
It’s for people that are white and wants to advocate against racism and be partners for peiple of color.
It’s absolutely stupid…
The T in ETH stands for what again?
Would be quite fun to go there as a white (identifying as black) only to not be allowed in by the black women because you aren’t (identifying as) white
Yeah as a scientist at ETH and previously elsewhere, I have seen some senior professors openly make pretty strong racist comments in meetings/seminars etc. (e.g. a very very senior guest speaker saying that black people are intellectually inferior and can’t be scientists) Each time I find it quite shocking and I don’t know how to react/respond, so for me this workshop sounds pretty useful.
Some of the comments here are just people who love to play the victim on Reddit. Literally what is the harm caused by a workshop on how white people can respond to racism in the workplace? Who exactly would be harmed by limiting the audience to white people? (And yes this is actually just one of many similar workshops open to everyone).
I won’t even get into the sexism in some of the departments, the level is completely embarrassing.
I think this is making a fuss out of nothing…
Like u don’t go screaming around discrimination if ur not allowed in a recovering addicts meeting, if you’re not one self?
It’s the intended target audience. But sure u could leave out the “requirements” and just say we have 25 seats and we heavily encourage white people to attend. Which i think would just sound better and not trigger stupid reactions.
And the end of the day, it’s going be forgotten in a few weeks.

I wonder if this is allowed with our [legal framework](https://www.edi.admin.ch/edi/en/home/fachstellen/frb/recht-und-beratung/rechtliche-grundlagen.html). Especially with [Discrimination and incitement to hatred – Art. 261bis 285](https://www.fedlex.admin.ch/eli/cc/54/757_781_799/en#a261bis)

It makes me think of this article:

where we can find statements such as
