Rail strikes: New date set for 40,000 workers to walk out

  1. Fuck sake, had to be that day.

Booked hamilton tickets, good seats as a birthday gift for my gf.

  2. Mick lynch is supposedly meeting with the new transport secretary today which seems like an improvement over good old “I can’t get involved” Sebastian fox.

For what I know network rail are moving in talks but are refusing to give assurances in writing only offering their word. They also haven’t yet released the full documents on modernisation which is dodgy as fuck with how long we’ve been negotiating.

Main problems seems to be around maintenance job losses and this “new” contract for all employees employed after 2014 and going forward everyone who gets promoted.
It’s not a good contract removes a lot of enhancements and a lot will be worse off due to it.

  3. Anyone know what trains are actually going to be running if any? Arrive at Heathrow that day. Pre booked a few train tickets. Wanted to go to Woking but I guess that won’t be possible by train.

  4. That’s the weekend of my stag/hen do where everyone is travelling to Manchester. We’ve all got to drive now. Lost revenue on the train tickets, extra traffic on the roads, more pollution caused, and petrol consumed. It’s all very short sighted by the government and rail companies.

    Solidarity with the strikers.

  5. Does this affect Eurostar? I’m going to Paris on 4 October and coming back 8 October.

Even if Eurostar runs I guess I might be stranded in London.

I was stranded in Toulouse last weekend because of the air-traffic control strike.

  6. When is the government going to realise, Mick Lynch will personally drive this country into the ground if he doesn’t get what he is asking for? He is not going to back down for anything. And to add to that, the majority of the public are on his side that they do deserve better.

Surely at some point they must realise it is better for the country to just let them them have their pay rise?
