I need help identifying a spider in Northern Finland. Is there a chance this is dangerous?

  1. There are no dangerous spiders in Finland. The most venomous one is Argyroneta Aquatica and it is not the one in the picture. As far as I know even the A. Aquatica has never managed to cause any significant harm to anyone.

  2. Dunno, but seems long. Maybe a uni’s Nat. History dept can help. You’ve tried a Google-type image search? No idea if it can give a match (crop in).

Yes, if you are severely arachnophobic it might give you a heart attack.
Or if you are allergic to spider venom, bite is comparable to wasp sting.

  4. No dangerous spiders in Finland. The aquatic spiders “Argyroneta aquatica” bite is pretty much comparable to a bee sting. There is (and has been for 50 years) a population of Chilean recluse spiders “Loxosceles laeta” in Helsinki national history museum. It is considered quite venomous but there has been only one biting incident in 50 years, and that wasnt deadly. So you are pretty safe I think.

  5. Nah it aint gona do anything to you if you dont bother it. And even if it does most that is gona happen is slight irritation around the bite

  6. I have never seen than. Maybe some sort of susihämähäkki? ie. Pardosa -family. I have no idea, I just googled around a bit. Has it made nets?

  7. Maybe an adolecent Acantholycosa lignaria, juoksuhämähäkki in Finnish. Just googled around, I’m no expert.

  8. Good to keep in mind that while there’s no native poisonous spiders some retard neighbor could always lose track of their toxic pet
