German EU MEP shows EU member countries stance on removal of the veto option

  1. Unfortunately, our largest party in the government ODS is in ECR faction and they have a significant “moderate eurosceptic” wing, so I think we won’t agree to it for this reason alone.

  2. Unreal how these politicians are still hopeful for this happening.

    Get realistic and start drawing up plans for two speed Europe with an open door to all who want to join the countries who want to integrate further.

  3. I think most Poles would be for removal of the right to veto, as we learned in school that abuse of veto rights was a major cause of fall of the Polish–Lithuanian Commonwealth.

    But every one knows current Polish government.

  4. AFAIK, Estonia is not in favour of scrapping it because we’re afraid that in things that matter to us, our wishes would be overridden since we’re so small. The veto power means that our voice actually counts.

    At the same time, naturally, the qualified majority voting would make it possible to move ahead with things that are blocked by some members such as Hungary.
