no actual tips from me, just some appreciation for your decision, complaining about life sounds best in polish
I think there is a lot of more recent literature on learning polish. As methodologies changed over the course of the last decades so did the literature.
Also there is tons of videos with learning material if you prefer this.
Just don’t get discouraged, it’s a fkn long way. I studied it for 35 years now and still make major mistakes from time to time..
One thing You should know about polish language…
First after the big bang there was chaos, and then the polish grammar appeared out of nowhere… just be warned 😉
Best of luck… talk a lot to people, and do not be afraid that You are not understood… and maybe try meet ups for people who are learning as well to get some insight and advice.
Kurwa mać. Good luck
No actual tip here, but good luck and have a look at r/learnpolish
My wife got some pimsleur CDs. They teach you basics but the approach is pretty neat cause you can listen to it while driving. She learned bunch of conversational sentences.
Another thing was a bunch of materials we found on Polish government website. I cannot recall which one. I’ll look for it.
EDIT:
Found it. Not sure if they are exactly the same. I sadly wasnt able to find the english version of this page. In the upper right corner there is a PL sign, you can switch to EN and browse it. It is official gov website. I managed to find this by looking for materials to help asylum seekers.
What you get under that link is pdfs with lessons and also corresponding audio clips that let you hear the pronunciation. https://www.gov.pl/web/udsc/materialy-dydaktyczne-do-nauki-jezyka-polskiego—dla-doroslych
focus on the context, even if your grammar isnt correct as long as the meaning of the context is somehow clear, people will understand you, because polish langauge is like water, you can change the words easily in many ways but the context will remain. This is one of the reasons why most sites dont even bother in creating a filter for polish curse words, because there’s simply too many and new ones can be easily created with similar meaning.
Polski krok po kroku is a great (monolingual) series of textbooks and graded readers (they also give you a code for the online-version, which is neat)
Hurra po polsku offers a very good grammar book, which is also available in English
