Never had this happen before. I’ve ordered from the same company loads of times but it’s never made me pay a fee. Should I trust it? Also it doesn’t give an option to charge me the money on that sheet so i don’t know how that’ll work?

  1. Be very careful ….. I know a person who was asked to pay 6 euro towards something and they were able to withdraw a few thousand from his account ….

  2. Go directly to the an post website, this page – https://www.anpost.com/Post-Parcels/Receiving/Pay-Customs-Charge and enter the two numbers you were emailed as references for paying customs.

What does the official an post website say?

I’m willing to bet it says nothing and whatever you have is a scam because the amount on it is too low for an An Post customs collection charge and it’s coincidence that you’re waiting on a package

  3. When I had to pay customs on an order, An Post send me a post card with all the information I needed to pay online.

  4. They will email you and send about a thousand letters to you in the post asking you to pay the import if you actually owe it. If you didn’t get an email you should have gotten a letter in the post – (edit / if it wasn’t a scam)

  5. Absolutely not. This is a scam, a well known scam, that has been doing the rounds for months. It’s always €1.90.

I ordered something over 6 months ago for about €350, I had it delivered to my parents’ house. It was delivered no problems or questions asked and then 2 or 3 days later my dad gets a text about a €1.90 fee from An Post, even though I ordered the item and would have used my phone number. Thankfully he rang me about it because I have it drummed into them about not trusting links in messages. He’s not overly tech savvy so he couldn’t pay it even if it did accidentally open the link, but at €1.90 there is a risk that if he knew how to, he might have paid it thinking he was doing me a favour only to end up being scammed.

  6. Its scam.only time you will need to pay an post when they put a post card that will direct you to your local post office for payment. They will never ask bia website or text message. This scamming will only increase in numbers so be careful.
