You have posh rural areas and poor rural areas. No surprise which ones the Tories like, Sunak himself made that clear when he was in Tunbdrige Wells when trying to become Tory leader. Rural life is tough when services are cut to the bone and you don’t have the spare cash to bypass all of those. You won’t see that on all the rural life documentaries though, it would ruin the ideal image people have in their heads.
I would honestly rather go the whole winter living on a shoestring in the countryside than live as a millionaire in the city. I like being able to walk around at night without getting stabbed.
