As someone who vehemently disagrees with most SVP positions, I have to say I’m gonna miss him a bit, or rather I’m very worried about his replacement. Maurer always respected the office of the federal council and was able to put party politics behind national interests. The same can’t be said about other SVP FCs like Blocher. Let’s hope SVP and parliament can find a candidate that both represents the party while being able to unequivocally support national interests no matter the party’s position

Well, since his replacement is going to be someone from the same party I hope Natalie Rickli makes the race. I liked how she handled the pandemic as the head of the health department here in Zurich.

I’m a little worried about his replacement because he really was a good Bundesrat in my opinion (although I don’t like SVP too much as a party).
