I guess they can still use the totally coincidental Denner-next-door to sell cancer sticks.
We found a smaller Migros close to us (not one of the big supermarkets) that had a modest selection of wine. It was tucked round the back of the shop, I assume this would the branch manager making an exception to the company rule?
Edit: thanks for the responses, looks like it’s a Migros Partner. The branding outside looks obvious now but a few years ago (when we lived in Riehen) it looked like a ‘normal’ branch.
I don’t get that anyways. They’re selling so much unhealthy crap, why not capitalize on the most addictive (legal) unhealthy crap?
Well the Migros in Liechtenstein was already selling alcohol. They were visionnaire
Why would they dump Denner? To create financial loss for themselves?
If I remember correctly, at some point not so long ago they even removed alcohol from desserts they were selling. Times change, not always in the right way.
Dutti is rotating in his grave at a 1000rpm right now.
Normaly not, as not all Migros will sell Alcool. This depends on each Migros District.
So by adding alcohol sales they’ll be able to lower prices to compete with Aldi?
😐
Anakin? They’ll have better pricing right?..
I don’t think Migros would receive an income boost from selling alcohol or tobacco.
At the moment, they have a clear USP and defferentiate themselves from their competitors. However, Aldi, Lidl, Alnatura – they are not sleeping and only wait for Migros to make an unpopular move to take over.
The reason customer choose Migros is because they believe in its values and stories. If they get the same as everyone else, why bother paying premium and get your stuff from Aldi instead?
No. They still need a place to sell the cheap beer.
