Everyone has known this for years already. It only stands as a talking point because Conservatives are hugely intellectually dishonest and have no qualms about lying through their teeth throughout “debates”. We all get dragged along because their cry-bullying takes too much effort and energy for anyone with any sense to actually sit down and cut through. Same as pretty much every political issue we face right now. Everyone knows the Conservative PoV is based on shaky grounds at best its just that those espousing these views have basically ruined any notion of genuine honest discourse in this country any more.
The obvious reason is that trickle down economics is not a economic theory but a politcal slogan using the words “economics”.
Why would anyone advocate that we “give” something to A in hopes that it would trickle down to B? Any sane person would of course “give” it to B and cut out the middleman. This however is moot, because there was no trickle-down theory about giving something to anybody in the first place. Trickle-down economics is a bastardisation of supply-side economics by politicians, a theory that does not claim to work in a “trickle-down” fashion. In supply side economics, the economic theory of reducing marginal tax rates works in precisely the opposite direction: Workers are always paid first and then profits flow upward later – if at all.

We’re in a depressing situation as a country, and they’re just making it worse. Economic policy that every person knows is wrong.
Is this some kind of Tory joke? Maybe Truss is going to win a bet by introducing Trickle Down policies, because it’s so far wrong that she must be doing it for person gain. Surely, surely she knows that it hasn’t worked every other time it was tried?

I can’t stand this guy. He spent years bashing Brexit, such an easy target, which propelled his career but that’s all he has. One trick pony! So now he’s trying to diversify into another incredibly easy target to bash which is trickle down economics

What further boggles the mind is that at no point in history has there been so much money available and investment as a percentage of that total amount of money been so low. Corporations and the richest in society are bursting at the seems with capital.
If they’re not spending it now, when they have more money than they’ve ever had before, why is giving them even more going to change anything?
There can only be two logical explanations:
1. You’re incapable of rational thought/incompetent and therefore not fit for office
2. You’re corrupt and abusing your position to enrich associates at the expense of the electorate and therefore not fit for office
